Last Sunday marked the first game for the Star Elite U21 team. This young group, a mix of new talents and experienced players, recently came together, bringing athletes from all over the Netherlands. With high expectations, they traveled for their opening match against the Elite Prospect Academy, a much-anticipated showdown. However, the game did not go as hoped, and the team lost 26-0. A surprising result, but also a valuable learning experience for this new group.
Strong Opponent, Valuable Lessons
After the game, Coach Elew expressed his admiration for his players: "We have many young athletes who haven’t been on the field often. We’re continuously developing and improving. I'm proud of how many of our young players showed up and had fun on the field – that’s what it’s all about."
Though the result wasn’t in their favor, the team kept their spirits high, viewing it as a chance to learn and grow.
Their opponents, Elite Prospect Academy, put up a strong performance. “They had a lot of physical strength and were clearly well-prepared,” Coach Elew continued. “Their QB play and penalty discipline made the difference. Two of our touchdowns were called back, and we turned the ball over more than five times. We need to protect the ball better and find ways to score.” Star Elite U21 has work to do but is determined to come back stronger in the next game.

After a tough loss on October 26, the Star Elite team has little time to recover. With just a short week of preparation, they face a new challenge: the city derby against the Amsterdam Crusaders on November 2. This match promises to be intense, as both teams battle for the honor of Amsterdam.
